About

I came to the University of Chicago from Berlin, via Paris and London, where first I did research in Economic and Social History at the London School of Economics, and, following that, wrote a Master's thesis in the History of Art at the Courtauld Institute of Art on Phillip Otto Runge's Images of Source.

My current project is a monographic study of the art nouveau magazine "PAN", published in Berlin between 1895-1900. Beyond that, I'm interested in histories of magazines, printed matter and the book more broadly.

Other interests are the historiography of art history, the German aesthetic tradition, museums, theories of display and ornament, text/image relationships, the aesthetics of paper and ephemerality, queer art, etc.
